High Street 2012 Summer Safari

High Street 2012 has been supporting 17 arts, heritage and community organisations to produce exciting events on or close by the High Street. For three days 21-23rd June 2012 these projects will create a high street full of festivities.

This is an opportunity to celebrate and explore changes made over the past three years along High Street 2012, the street that connects Aldgate at the edge of the City of London to Stratford and the Olympic Park.

The Summer Safari begins at The Whitechapel Bell Foundry, where Big Ben was made, opening its doors for visitors at 9.00am, Thursday 21st June, and ends with a parade of giant insects on neighbouring Roman Road, Saturday 23rd June 9.45pm.

This is an opportunity to see and learn more about this historic high street. Take the 205 bus to see art made by local children and artists from Magic Me, stop by Queen Mary’s University to buy designer goods from The Poundshop, view Dress Code’s inflatable sculptures in Altab Ali Park, taste local food at the London Muslim Centre and much, much more.

A Summer Safari map will ensure you don’t miss out. It will also showcase the improvements made to streets, parks and historic buildings as part of High Street 2012.

The map will be available to download from 9th June. http://www.highstreet2012.com/news
