Hoxton Square installation

RIBA London is working with the London Borough of Hackney, to temporarily transform Hoxton Square. Harry Dobbs Design and Troika will collaborate to design a set of installations that provide a field of playful and more intimate spaces within Hoxton Square that activate it and invite occupancy.

Structures developed by Harry Dobbs will function as social meeting places, be it for resting, playing or seeking a conversation, that draw visitors into the park. They can be customised to create more open or cozy spaces, at the same time they might provide shelter against the sun one day and against rain on the next. To complement these structures that remind us of parasols that are playfully dotted around the park, Troika’s tall light installation linked through latest wireless technology will draw on weather forecast iconography. THE WEATHER YESTERDAY is a tongue in cheek tribute to a typical British trait and a talking point to open up many playful conversations about the weather.
